A friend like her.
I prayed for you today after I caught a glimpse of the sadness in your eyes. I prayed that you knew someone like her because everyone should—the kind of friend who goes to war on your behalf without you ever even knowing. I prayed you had a friend like her, who takes a minute to stand upright because she’s been on her knees for so long, talking to Jesus about you. I prayed that you had a friend like her, who has your name scribbled down, followed by prayers that are no longer legible because they’re messy and blotted by her tears. Yes, I prayed that you find a friend like her, but most of all, I prayed that you’d become her.
